Abstract

Micronutrient deficiencies, or hidden hunger, represent a critical global health burden affecting diverse populations, with significant adverse impacts on health, development, and productivity. This overview synthesizes current research on prevalence in vul- nerable groups like children, pregnant women, older adults, and individuals with chronic diseases or specific diets. It also explores various interventions, including supplementation, food fortification, and biofortification. Furthermore, the role of micronutrients in immune function, particularly against infections like COVID-19, and their influence on mental health outcomes are highlighted,
emphasizing the need for comprehensive nutritional strategies and policies to combat these pervasive deficiencies
