Abstract
Vegan and plant-based diets offer notable health benefits, including improved cardiometabolic markers, reduced chronic disease risk, and better glycemic control. These diets also significantly lower environmental footprints. However, careful dietary planning and supplementation are essential to prevent potential deficiencies in nutrients like vitamin B12, vitamin D, calcium, iron, and zinc, especially for specific populations such as athletes and pregnant individuals, and for maintaining bone health. The complex relationship with mental health also warrants balanced approaches. Overall, well-planned plant-based diets are supported for health and sustainability.
