Sarcoidosis is a systemic granulomatous disorder of unknown cause characterised by frequent pulmonary involvement. The disease occurs throughout the world, affecting both sexes, and all races and ages.
The research studies on sarcoidosis are being carried out in many academic centers in Poland. The symptoms of sarcoidosis can vary greatly, depending on which organs are involved. Most patients initially complain of a persistent dry cough, fatigue, and shortness of breath.
Sarcoidosis is one of the most common interstitial lung diseases (ILD) in Poland. The prevalence does not change for years and is about 10 per 100 000, however there is a need to perform a more up-to-date epidemiologic study in Poland.
