Abstract :

We live in an age of increasing microbial resistance. Therefore, antibiotic stewardship should be one of our prime objectives. One of the simplest and perhaps most crucial ways to improve the use of antimicrobials is to educate practitioners and the patients and help them decide which agent to choose. I will discuss the basic mechanism of action and resistance for antimicrobials. I will be discussing how to minimize the adverse reactions associated with particular classes of drugs. The purpose would be to provide a tool for clinicians to pick the right drug for the bug they are treating.
