Abstract
Psoriasis is reported in approximately 2% of children in Europe, although data is controversial. The clinical picture of psoriasis is not like psoriasis diagnosed in adults and can represent a diagnostic challenge for pediatricians. Peculiar pattern of presentation can be seen in daily practice in children diagnosed with psoriasis since the first months of life. There are two peaks of incidence of psoriasis in childhood: in early childhood (in the first months-years of life) and in adolescence; the prevalence is higher in late-onset psoriasis and in girls; nearly 48.8% of children had a family history of psoriasis in a first-degree relative. The most common type of psoriasis is plaque-psoriasis localized on the scalp, limbs and trunk. Clinical diagnosis in childhood psoriasis is essential, biopsy being rarely necessary or accepted especially in small children. Skin lesions may differ in distribution and morphology from adult psoriasis and due to associated comorbidities and great impact on quality of life, early recognition is essential. In this presentation, we present a wide spectrum of clinical cases of childhood psoriasis.
