Abstract
One of the most challenging cases is the single central restoration. This is because we have to typically match its color with the adjacent tooth. A wide variety of dental ceramic materials are presently available, though with very different characteristics in terms of the composition, optic properties and manufacturing processes involved. In this presentation, we will evaluate the color duplication of porcelain laminate veneers manufactured from four different ceramic brands representing two ceramic types (pressed and sintered) and how if the same tooth at the same situation got four different restorations, which of them will perfectly match the adjacent one. Laminate veneer standardized preparation as well as the unique temporary cement used for comparing will be presented and accuracy of VITS Easyshade® as an intraoral spectrophotometer in determining the amount of optimization efforts needed are also discussed and evaluated in a very reliable statistical manner. A unique statistical and applicable correlation will be done between the color matching quality and the delta E color matching difference. A delta E discriminative range will be concluded. The color parameters and their effect on color matching and which of them is more effective and how to modify the total color difference of restoration when we modify its value, hue or chroma is presented. We believe that color, especially after recent CAD/CAM different restorations and a technique of application has to take more attention in esthetic dentistry.
