|In china, the incidence of diabetes were increased dramatically from 1% in 1980 to 11.6% in 2010. Diabetes control situation is not optimistic yet, there were only 1/3 patients who were diagnosed with diabetes, during which(diagnosed diabetes) there were only 1/3 diabetes were treated, during which(treated diabetes)only 1/3 patients were complianced, so there were lots of challenges about diabetes management. The diabetes nurse group was established followed by the Chinese Medical Association Diabetes society in the early 1990s in that situation. Several major hospitals had diabetes specialist nurses program in 2001, full-time diabetes education nurse work has been started in the hospital in recent years. An increasing number of diabetes educator teams are build to improve the quality of diabetes nursing. The team members have initiated many diabetes models, such as individualized education (by dns clinic),group education , distance teaching with the help of the computers or telephones. There are still some other improvement,which can be reflected in the methods and instruments of diabetes nursing. Diabetes education books and china guideline for type 2 diabetes are updated in time. Chinese government also pay attention to situation about the control of diabetes, the government encourage hospital-community-intergrated management. Although the level of diabetes care in china is not so high, we are improving the quality of diabetes nursing step by step.|
Peiru zhou has completed her master degree from south medical university in guangzhou. She is the vice director of the outpatient dep. Of the first affiliated hospital of jinan university. She is also the vice chairman of diabetes professional committee of guangdong provincial nursing association,master nursing teacher and diabetes specialist nurse. She has published more than 20 papers in reputed journals and has obtained major domestic project(capital fund 3millions). She is working very good at scientific research and teaching .
