Abstract :

E nd-stage renal disease (ESRD) is a multi-organ process. Sexual dysfunction is a common patient complaint but often under- recognized and poorly managed sequelae. Complications from the treatment of ESRD include hypogonadism, erectile dysfunction, and orgasmic dysfunction as described in the literature. Immuno-suppression from renal transplantation is also associated with sexual side effects along with decreased fertility. Emerging evidence on fertility preservation and fertility optimization are now available in the literature. A critical review of the literature can provide insight into this complication and update on the available effective treatment options for physicians caring for ESRD patients
