The purpose of this teaching project is to enhance competences of NPGY (Nurse Post Graduate Year, NPGY) staffs in caring with simulation teaching on IAD clinical practice.

Method: Strategies used in this project included: 1) establishing the simulation teaching video of nursing care standards for improving competencies of NPGY staffs in caring for IAD. 2) using real IAD pictures and manikins to help of NPGY staffs to learn how to care the IAD. 3) designing the IAD objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) to evaluate the IAD care skills of NPGY staffs.

Results: 5 NPGY staffs were included in this teaching project. After the intervention, the mean score of medical knowledge improved from 15.2 points to 26.4 points(0~30), the ability of patient care improved from 16.4 points to 27 points(0~31), the score of interpersonal and communication skills improved from 7 points to 15 points( 0~15), the score of professionalism and systems-based practice improved from 5.4 points to 9.6 points(0~12), the ability of practice-based learning and improvement increased from 7.2 points to 10.8 points(0~12).

Conclusion: The results confirm that the NPGY staffs training program that based on the OSCE evaluation with simulation teaching can improve the ability with IAD care of NPGY staffs.
