Abstract :

Objective: This research aims to determine the health and level of stigma related to tuberculosis in individuals with tuberculosis cross-sectional study was carried out. Methods: The sample of the study consisted of 312 healthy individuals and 109 individuals with tuberculosis. Between July 1, 2013 and July 7 2014, data from a questionnaire prepared by the researchers and â??Tuberculosis Related Stigma Scaleâ? are collected. Data were analyzed by Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney U test and reliability test. Written consent was taken from the ethics committee and from the institutions for conducting the study. Results: Totally 29.8% of healthy individuals were in 18-35 age group, 26.6% of them were graduated from high school, 34% of them were housewife and 77.2% of them were in a medium economic level. The average age of individuals with tuberculosis was found as 41.45 + 14.6 years (min: 18, max: 86). 59.6% of them married, 19.3% of them graduated from high school. The mean score of Tuberculosis Related Stigma Scale of healthy individuals 13.87 + 6.26 and of individuals with tuberculosis was found as 11.08 + 5.50. It was determine that gender, marital status, age group, education level, profession and economic situation does not affect the total scale score. Conclusion: Knowing that infectious sense of pessimism in patients living for the diagnosis of tuberculosis and tuberculosis that has been found to more stigmatization seen. As a result, stigma related to both healthy individuals with tuberculosis. Key Words: Tuberculosis; stigma; society.
