Abstract :

Carcinoma mammae is the most common malignancy that happens in women both in Indonesia and around the world. Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) has important roles in angiogenesis and tumor cell metastase, thus high VEGF expression could be a marker of the increase angiogenesis process and tumor cell metastasis. Therefore, the aim of this study is to determine the expression of VEGF and its relation with the differentiation degree of Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Mammae (IDCM). This study was cross sectional study with random sampling. Twenty-five IDCM samples were analyzed with immunohistochemical staining. Based on Spearman correlation analysis, we found p was 0.042 and correlation coefficient was 0.0409, which means there is a statistically significant relation between VEGF expression and differentiation degree of IDCM where the higher score of VEGF expression, the worse the differentiation degree of IDCM.
