Abstract:

Purpose: The current study aimed to pilot factors influencing tooth loss and the extent of removable prosthesis rehabilitation in young adult patients (18-40 years old) attending 11 of Qassim province dental clinics. Materials & Methods: This study was planned as pilot to test the questionnaire, methodology and logistic prior to a larger study. It included 150 Saudi patients in Qassim province with an age range (18-40) years attending Qassim province dental clinics in Qassim University Dental Clinics at males and females?? sections, Central Hospital, Revan Smile, Panorama, Alajaji, Balsam Alofq and Buraydah Private Dental Clinics in Buraydah, King Saud Hospital and Alqassim Private Dental Clinics in Unaizah, Primary Health Care Unit in Shri. Results: Among 150 subjects, the removable partial denture treatment modality was needed by 135 patients comprising 87.6% of the total sample followed by 13 (8.6%), 6 (3.8%) for complete denture and implant supported overdentures, respectively. Dental caries was the most common cause of teeth loss in all treatment choices at 92.3%, 92.6% and 83.3% followed by periodontal disease at 53.8%, 28.1% and 66.7% for complete denture, removable partial denture and implant supported overdenture, respectively. The majority of the participants were systemically free of disease and the study showed no significant correlation between their socioeconomic status and degree of education to the teeth loss and accordingly removable prosthesis need.
