Abstract :

W e all know the vascular calcification as head of morbidity and mortality in patients with chronic kidney disease stage 5 and 5 D. In Nephrology practice in Argentina most patients enter renal vascular calcification and its consequences replacement therapy since the diagnosis becomes late. According to a study multicentered in 2012, a total of 500 patients were unable to assess them with functional and radiological diagnostic methods to determine prevalence and incidence of vascular calcification in our population. Included in the same radiological determinations with Score of Adragao and Kaupilla with some modifications in relation to other studies as the determination of technique of hands by separate to optimize x-ray focus and achieved a better score. Clearly the radiological study is a strong predictor of vascular calcification and its consequence. We conclude that the radiology is an excellent method of home, economic, semi quantitative, allowing you to explore different vascular territories. At the same time, it also has good correlation with other diagnostic methods and easy access in daily practice. The absence of radiological vascular calcification does not rule out his presence and also allows determining type of vascular calcification. In short a good diagnosis of calcifying allows better treatment and prolongs the survival of our patients on dialysis.
