Abstract:

This study was conducted to inspect the microbiological contamination levels (total aerobic count, coliforms and Escherichia coli) in health functional food which were distributed in South Korea. A total of 500 were collected and inspected in this study. All samples were collected according to the sampling plans recommended by the international commission on microbiological specifications for foods (ICMSF) from several grocery stores and markets. The methods of microbiological test in this research were accorded to the Korean ??Food Code?. The current microbial criteria of coliforms were negative in health functional food. Therefore, the positive products for coliforms were taken off the Korean market and discarded. With the monitoring results, we proposed revised version of statistic standard for microbial contaminations.
