Abstract:

Objectives: Nowadays resin cements are widely used to adhesion the veneer, inlay, onlay, intra canal posts and full crowns. Access to optimum adhesion with dentin is considered as a main goal in restorative dentistry. Aim of this study was to compare laser with acidic conditioners of EDTA and acid citric on micro shear bond strength of self-adhesive cements to dentin. Materials & Method: In this experimental study, 40 human posterior teeth without previous carries, restoration, fracture and abrasion which were extracted mostly due to orthodontic treatment were selected. Then, the teeth crowns were cut from DEJ and dentin surface was exposed with disk. The teeth were divided into four groups as follows: in G1, the samples were etched and rinsed with 10% acid citric and in G2 with 15% EDTA, G3 were treated with Er:YAG laser and the samples of group four were remained without treatment (control). Then, embrace cement resin was cemented on the dentin treated area in dimensional 3X1X0.5 mm. Micro shear bond strength of groups were measured with universal mechanical test in MPa. Data were analyzed by using SPSS16, one-way ANOVA and Tukey HSD tests (P< 0.05). Results: Mean and standard deviation of micro shear bond strength in different groups was: laser (22.86±5.77), acid citric (12.96±3.94), EDTA (13.67±5.82) and control group (12.95±5.53). Results showed that there are statistical differences between micro shear bond strength of the groups (P<0.001). Laser group had significant difference than other groups (P<0.05). Conclusion: Dentin surface treatment with laser increases the bond strength of resin cement to dentin in comparison with etching.
