|Ambulatory care is comprised of a significant portion of the health care delivered in Canada. In response to the increased emphasis on patient flow and access to healthcare in Ontario, the Canadian Association of Ambulatory Care recommends that hospitals and policy makers refocus their efforts on ambulatory care services for patients. Effectively managing ambulatory services is vital and can no longer be considered as a separate priority from the core services being delivered in hospitals. This keynote address will discuss why hospitals need to implement a sustainable ambulatory strategy plan to better organize and coordinate care for their patients. This will include a discussion regarding evidence that suggest that implementing a coordinated service delivery model for patients will improve patient clinical outcomes and satisfaction. In addition, this approach for ambulatory care empowers the patients as partners in care, and supports their journey to health and wellness.|
Denyse is currently the CEO & Founder of the Canadian Association of Ambulatory Care, Canada’s first not-for-profit organization established for professionals working in various ambulatory care areas. Her academic background includes a Bachelor degree in Health Administration with honors from Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada and a Masters degree in Health Management at McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada. Since 1993 she has had a long and successful career in healthcare working in different clinical areas including Critical Care Nursing, Patient Advocacy, and Patient Care Manager for Ambulatory Care and Peri- Anaesthesia. Denyse is also an Adjunct Lecturer with the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto. In her role she has planned and implemented many new initiatives to enhance patient safety and satisfaction. As a leader, she is constantly seeking creative ways to foste dynamic learning environment to promote high quality patient care and continuous quality improvements.
