Abstract:

Genetic diversity in 45 rice genotypes of indigenous and exotic origin was carried out using 15 polymorphic SSR markers. A total of 76 alleles were detected with an average of 5.07 alleles per marker, the being two alleles for RM 31, RM 214 and RM300 to 11 alleles for RM285. The PIC value ranged from a low of 0.23 for RM 423 to a high of 0.99 for RM 320 with an average of 0.66 per marker. The Jaccards coefficient of similarity ranged from 0.758 (Bahadur and Ranjit) to 0.111 (Dhirendra and LGRU 2), with an average of 0.385 suggesting diverse nature of genotypes under study.
