Background: Suicidal ideations are thoughts of killing Oneself, which can range from wishing to die, up to a detailed plan to a fleeting consideration and it does not include the final act of killing oneself. Aim and Method: This is a descriptive cross-sectional hospital-based study was conducted in 2018 to find out the Prevalence of suicidal ideation among Sudanese patients attending Taha Baasher�??s Psychiatric teaching hospital. Methodology: A self-administered questionnaire was distributed to a sample of 120 Patients attended the outpatient clinic through the study period. The analysis was performed with help of the SPSS program. Results: It is noticeable that suicidal thoughts are more in youth between (21-40). Males and females were equal in the ratio, and we observed that it is more common in patients who were diagnosed with the major depressive disorder, and most of them are single and unemployed. Fortunately, 68.8% of them have low suicidal ideation. Conclusion: The study concluded that the suicidal ideation is equal in both gender and has a strong association with youth more than elderly.

Ms. Abrar is interested in psychiatry, so she chose Suicide among patients with psychiatric disorders as a topic for her graduation thesis. She is very good at Computer skills. She speaks Arabic as a mother tongue and English as a second language. She received a training course in Emergency Medicine on 29th October 2017 in the International Islamic University Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
