Abstract
Bell's palsy or idiopathic facial paralysis (IFP) is the most common acute unilateral lower motor neuron paralysis of the facial nerve with worldwide incidence of IFP is 11-40 per 100,000 people annually. Facial paralysis of long term effect, permanent nature or even short term effect can be devastating for patient and affect the prosthetic outcome. Modern society's emphasis on appearance and physical beauty contributes to this problem and often, leads to isolation of patients embarrassed by their appearance. This presentation will explain the prosthodontic management of an edentulous jaw in patient with Bell's palsy by different modification to the removable prosthesis. These modifications lead to elevate the check musculature, vestibule and lips there by improving the fullness and support to the face on the affected side.
