Introduction: The principle of the respect for patient rights charter in any society is one of the most important moral duties in the field of medical ethics that has a long history in the medical world. Due to the lack of the sufficient attention to patients' rights in various fields- especially in health issues- and low awareness of the patients on their rights in performed research, the researchers have attempted to investigate the respect level for the patientsâ�?�? rights in the teaching hospitals in Zahedan from the points of views of the patients. Methodology: This descriptive study has been performed on 156 patients referring to the teaching hospitals related to Zahedan University of Medical Sciences in 2016. The patients were randomly selected. Data of the study were collected using a twopart questionnaire. The first part of the questionnaire was related to demographic data of samples and the second part of the questionnaire was related to the respect for the patients' rights. Data, after collecting, were analyzed by SPSS version 19, descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation and t-test. Findings: The results of the current study showed that the average age was 37.95 �?± 14.80 and 73 patients were male. 97 patients had a history of hospitalization in that hospital. Then, 142 persons stated that, in relation to patients' rights, they have not been trained. The relationship between the age of patients and the mean of total score of the respect for the patientâ�?�?s rights was significant (P = 0.02). Also, the relationship between the hospitalization history of patients in the hospital and their views in relation to the respect for their rights was significant (P = 0.002) but the relationship between gender (P = 0.13) and teaching about patientâ�?�?s rights (P = 0.65) with the mean of the total score of the respect for the patients' rights were not significant. The overall score mean of the respect for the patientâ�?�?s rights was 9.78 �?± 7.38 that it was in the intermediate level. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the respect level for the patientsâ�?�? rights from the points of views of the patients are in the intermediate level and a large number of patients have stated that their rights are not respected as well.
