Abstract :

Ovarian cancer is the most lethal of the gynecologic malignancies, exploring the related molecular mechanisms of initiation and development, and identifying possible targets for the treatment of ovarian carcinoma has taken into insight nowadays. Ras homolog gene family member C (RhoC) is a small G protein/guanosine triphosphatase involved in tumor mobility, invasion, and metastasis. Our previous studies showed that RhoC expression was positively correlated to ovarian carcinogenesis, clinical stage and vascularization in ovarian cancer. RhoC inhibitor, Lovastatin, could inhibit ovarian cancer cell proliferation, migration and invasion through downregulating RhoC and modulating relevant gene expression. Besides, we also found a series of microRNAs and LncRNAs which play important roles in ovarian carcinoma pathological processes through regulating RhoC directly or indirectly. Above all, we suggest that the up-regulated RhoC expression may affect ovarian carcinogenesis and should be considered as a good biomarker and also a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of ovarian carcinoma.
