Abstract :

Child care is known to be one of the most important factors affecting the development and health of children and sick children forms the group that needs the most care. In pediatric patient groups, pediatric surgery patients are in the risky group in terms of the problems brought about by the surgical procedures, which makes care and treatment of pediatric surgical nursing crucial for these kids. However, literature reviews show that the studies in pediatric surgery nursing are quite limited. In this study, it was aimed to determine Current Emerging Trends by using scientometric methods through analyzing the articles published between 1975-2018 in the Web of Science database in the field of "Nursing" and "Pediatrics?.
As a result, 4697 articles were found focusing on Pediatric Nursing. Among the countries, the most productive one was the USA (2971) (63.3%) followed by Canada (353, 7.5%) and Australia (328, 7%). Turkey ranks seventh with 60 (1.3%) articles. Perinatal Care and the Journal of Pediatric Nursing Care of Children Families were found the top two journals producing the most publications. The most active journals organizations were Enhanced University of California System (164 articles) and The University of North Carolina (91 articles). The author, Christian BJ, was found to contribute most to the literature with his 36 articles. The trend that started with 23 publications in 1980 reached 436 in 2018. 7769 keywords were used in 4697 articles. The most used keywords in the articles are breastfeeding, children, pregnancy, adolescents, and obesity. The most cited article in the Pediatric Nursing field was found to be ??Childbirth and the development of acute trauma symptoms: Incidence and contributing factors? by Creedy, DK. et. al., 2000. As a result, it is seen that the number of publications related to Surgery in the field of pediatric nursing is quite low compared to other fields. The reason for this is that the pediatric surgery in nursing journals is not scanned in the WoS index.
