Abstract :

Aim: This study aims to determine the validity and reliability of stroke self-efficacy questionnaire. Methods: Methodological study was conducted in a private acute stroke unit in Istanbul. After obtaining IRB approval and consent from the center 13 items Likert type scales language and content validity was done. Group of 10 people was used as a pilot study. Following the preliminary study, 130 stroke patients participated to the study. In three weeks, 50 patients retested. Results: Cronbachs alpha was 0.93 for the scale and its subgroups. As a result of the factor analysis, 13 variables separated into two factors (adaptation to new challenges and maintaining change). Variance for two factors was 88.2%. There was no statistical difference between the items according to test-retest scores (p>0.05) and reliability index was found over 0.80. Conclusion: As a result of this study, Turkish version of stroke self-efficacy questionnaire is valid and reliable to use in Turkey.
