|Introduction: This is an evidence-based clinical presentation of the current views on managing traumatic dental injuries in the growing child. Based on clinical scenarios, a diagnotic trauma work up with clinical tips will be discussed tailored to the different types of traumatic dental injuries. Learning Objectives: At the end of the presentation, the audience will be able to diagnose various dental injuries, understand the different current recommendations and guidelines in relation to dental traumatology, appreciate the holistic approach to the management of the growing child and his dental injury, recognize the importance of different endodontic techniques including reviewing the concept of regenerative endodontic in relation to dental traumatology. The audience will be able to acknowledge and have a systematic approach to the management of the acute trauma as well as the medium and long term management and appreciate the utilization of the dental trauma guide and usefulness in managing the parents’ expectations.|
D Siddik qualified from the USJ in Lebanon. She completed a Genetic Certificate and three years training in Paediatric and Community Dentistry in the same university prior to relocating to London UK in 2003. She completed a Diploma in Clinical Dental Sciences at the Eastman Dental Institute, London. She was awarded the Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons, England. She worked in the Paediatric Dental department at The Eastman Dental Institute and in The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department at the Barts, the London and Homerton Hospitals. She held a teaching position at the King's College University in the Paediatric Dental department. She has teaching experience for both undergraduate and postgraduate students and is a regular examiner for dental courses at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. She sought further specialization in Paediatric Dentistry jointly at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital and the Barts and the London Hospital, London. She was awarded the Membership in Paediatric Dentistry from The Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. She was further awarded the prestigious Fellowship in Paediatric Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons, England. She is currently a Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry at Guy's and St Thomas’ Hospital. She presented in numerous paediatric dental conferences and her areas of special interest are management of dental injuries, sedation/general anaesthesia for anxious children, and oral surgery.
