Abstract Transrectal biopsy of the prostate (TBP) is the most accurate method of diagnosing prostate cancer. Although debate remains, prophylactic antibiotic therapy is most frequently used to prevent infectious complications after TBP. Here, we present a case of Escherichia coli meningitis after TBP despite quinolone prophylaxis.
