Abstract As the analysis of apoptosis is of interest in many basic and clinically oriented investigations, we intend to give a brief overview on the recently most-used methods for detection of apoptotic cells, including the study of morphology, analysis of DNA degradation, DNA end-labeling techniques, flow cytometric analysis, and nuclease assays. Features and advantages of the different methods are discussed.
