Abstract The germinal center reaction is pivotal to the induction of B cell memory. The signals that regulate this complex microenvironment, with their cellular and molecular consequences, underpin long-term protective immunity. Recent studies have identified many key regulators of the germinal center cycle and have revealed an array of cellular outcomes that further define the memory B cell compartment.
