Abstract Several research groups have claimed to have successfully generated pluripotent or multipotent cells from human testis. However, the pluripotent character of those cells with respect to gene expression profile and ability to generate teratomas has been called into question. Here, we critically review these reports and provide insight to guide future studies on the derivation of human pluripotent cells from testicular tissue. Copyright © 2011 AlphaMed Press.
