Till recent past drainage engineering had been science and engineering of irrigated agriculture land improvement activity. The scope of drainage engineering got broadened in Earth Summit in 1992 to reduce inimical developments not only in irrigated fields, but also in rainfed agriculture, protection of environment and measure for social welfare. The application of broadened knowledge of drainage engineering will get fortified if water professionals who are involved as implementers of project as well as the users of the facilities are enabled to acquaint with the new knowledge. This study extends the broadened scope and knowledge of drainage engineering to ongoing civil water resources engineering, agricultural engineering and agriculture degree courses. Based on the applications of scientific facts of natural processes and environmental engineering innovative universally applicable technologies, developed by this author, are presented in this script, resulting multiple benefits and multidimensional applications show promising prospects. It warrants revision of course curriculum and renaming of Drainage Engineering Departments. The supplementation of knowledge of these suggested courses will produce useful effects in water development and agriculture projects that will make drainage engineering as savvier of productivity and protection of environment by eliminating emission of green house gases viz methane and nitrous oxides from entire sector of agriculture. Example cases of beneficial activities are described.
