Abstract: An experimental study was conducted to study the effect of s pirulina on anthropometric parameters and the bio - chemical parameters before and after its use as nutritional supplement in school children . The study was conducted in a residential girl’s school in the age group between 11 to 13 years . Three cap sules of s pirulina were given during dinner time for 3 months . A t the initial survey and at the end of 6 th month t he anthropometric and bio - chemical findings wer e recorded. B lood sample s wer e taken to analyse hemoglobin (Hb ), serum ferrtin , s erum z inc , s erum p rotein and serum a lbumin levels at 0, 3 and 6 months. Result: There was a significant increase in anthropometric measurements and H emoglobin , serum ferrtin, serum zinc, serum protein and serum albumin level s in the study sample after 6 months. Concl usion: The anthropometric and bio - chemical parameters i mproved after the use of spirulina.
