Abstract One might categorize the method of committing suicide into fatal and non-fatal methods. One of the less recognized fatal methods of suicide is self-immolation or self-burn. In this article, a fresh look at the epidemiology of self-immolation around the world is taken. Furthermore, the case fatality rate and the prevention of suicides using self-immolation method are also discussed.
