Abstract Share this page

Most commercially available esthetic post systems rely on the use of a prefabricated post component that is incorporated into the definitive post. The use of a prefabricated post made out of either composite resin or ceramic materials requires preparation of the canal to the size and shape of the post. This is usually followed by either adding a composite resin core to the post after post cementation or, alternatively, heat pressing a ceramic core onto the ceramic post during its fabrication. In both situations, the fit of the post with the canal walls depends on the configuration and size of the root canal.
