The importance of sagebrush (Artemisia spp.) to maintenance of population stability of sage grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) is documented from review of studies throughout the range of this species. Known effects of sagebrush control on sage grouse are presented. Guidelines for the maintenance of sage grouse habitats promulgated by the Western Association of State Game and Fish Commissioners are given.
