Abstract Share this page

OBJECTIVE: To describe a case of a hemorrhagic prostatic cyst following ultrasound-guided biopsy of the prostate gland.

METHODS/RESULTS: We reviewed our series of 77 patients submitted to re-biopsy of the prostate; only one case (1.3%) of hemorrhagic post-biopsy prostatic cyst was found. The ultrasound features, differential diagnosis and management of these cystic lesions are discussed.

CONCLUSIONS: Hemorrhagic post-biopsy prostatic cyst is rare in our series (1.3%). A history of a previous biopsy in the area of the cystic lesion, the results of punction-aspiration of the cystic content and biopsy of the prostate gland provide data that are necessary to make the diagnosis.
