Abstract Tritrichomonas foetus is a parasite of particular veterinary importance causing bovine tritrichomonosis, a sexually transmitted disease leading to infertility and abortion. The present review summarizes the current knowledge on potential mechanisms of pathogenicity of T. foetus, the immunology of host-parasite interaction in bovine tritrichomonosis, and the experimental model systems of this parasitic disease.
