Abstract Ancovenin, an inhibitor of angiotensin I converting enzyme isolated from the culture broth of a Streptomyces species, is a dialysable peptide composed of sixteen amino acid residues containing unusual amino acids such as threo-beta-methyllanthionine, meso-lanthionine, and dehydroalanine.
