Abstract We compared the kinetics of cytochrome-c oxidase (cytochrome-c:oxygen oxidoreductase, EC 220.127.116.11) in fibroblasts derived from normal and cystic fibrosis individuals. The Km of the enzyme for reduced cytochrome c was significantly increased in CF cells; the change, however, was observed only at temperatures above 25 degrees C. The Vmax values were comparable in both types of individuals.
