Abstract Share this page
Herpesviruses infect a lot of animal species all over the world. Bovine herpesviruses are well known because of the
economic impact of animal infections that they provoke. In a first part, virological properties of bovine
herpesviruses are presented, while clinics signs associated with infection are their economic impact are discussed in
a second part. Then, the analytical epidemiology of the viral transmission between animals is described, as well as
circumstances of viral infection of bovine herds. Finally, an assessment of ruminant species that are susceptible to
these viruses is made, essentially based on serological results, before defining risk situations for a possible
interspecies viral transmission.
