Excerpt This Statistical Brief presents data from the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP) on hospital stays for cancer care in individuals under 18 years of age in 2009. Characteristics of these stays are compared with all non-newborn pediatric stays. Trends in the most common pediatric cancer hospitalizations, as well as cost and length of cancer stays, are displayed. Variations in cost and length of stay are described by cancer site. Finally, principal diagnoses among children with secondary cancer stays are noted. All differences between estimates noted in the text are statistically significant at the 0.05 level or better.
