Abstract Forensic pathologists must identify the bodies and remains falling under their purview in the normal course of death investigation and death certification. Accurate identification is critical and can at times be daunting challenge, especially in mass disaster situations. Many methods can be employed from various scientific disciplines and otherwise, resulting in positive or presumptive identification. Then, proper identification must be maintained and supported where challenged.
