Abstract Advances in the treatment of male infertility now routinely allow men with obstructive azoospermia to have fertility treatment without microsurgical reconstruction. A variety of methods for retrieving sperm from men with obstructive azoospermia have been described. The goals of sperm retrieval are to obtain the best quality sperm possible, to retrieve adequate numbers of sperm for immediate use and for cryopreservation, and to minimize damage to the reproductive tract.
