Abstract Among sports injuries, tendons pathology is frequent. Mostly it is an overuse lesion due to extrinsic factors. Degeneration is the most frequent underlying condition seen in histological examination. Inflammatory cells are rarely found. Tendinopathy should be preferred to tendinitis. Correct treatment needs to understand the underlying mechanism. Pain control is the first step, then physiotherapy with a special attention on eccentric muscle work.
