Lignin model compounds for dibenzodioxocin structure have been synthesized and their reactions have been studied. Under alkaline conditions, phenolic dibenzodioxocin model compounds are cleaved more extensively than “normal” b-aryl ethers but are significantly less reactive than non-cyclic a-aryl ethers.
