In the age globalization that compels the nations of the world into the multilevel rel a- tions and creates complex interdependence among the various groups of people, the role of the international organizations in the implementation of Turkish foreign policy has recently been more recognizable in many aspects. In the p ost - cold war period while Turkey has been trying to strengthen its existing connections with the western organizations such as the EU, it also actively seeks to develop new economic, cultural and political ties with the neighboring countries in the Middle East, Caucasia and Central Asia by undertaking bold initiatives. In reality, in Turkey’s new activist foreign policy approach that has gradually emerged in the post - cold war era and recently been well - formulated by some intellectuals and practitioners, int ernational organizations have now come to be seen as strategic instruments providing leverage and flexibility to the Turkish foreign policy.
