Triiodothyronine (T3) Hormone

One of the hormones secreted from Thyroid gland. Thyroid-stimulating Hormone (TSH) is secreted from anterior pituitary gland, which is responsible for the production of T3 Hormone. T3 Hormone controls many of the physiological process of the body, includes heart rate, metabolism, development and growth.

Thyroxine (T4) Hormone

This hormone is also produced by Thyroid Stimulating hormone (TSH). It is secreted into the blood stream nearby to Thyroid gland. Hormone shows important roles for the body functioning such as digestion, brain development, bones maintenance, muscles & heart functioning. Thyroxine is an inactive form of Thyroid hormone and its most of the part is gets converted into Triiodothyronine (T3) Hormone which is an active hormone.

Thyroid Cancers

Thyroid gland is found on base of the neck and below Adam’s apple in the shape of butterfly like appearance. If there is a growth of any abnormal cell near or inside Thyroid gland that can affect the regular functioning of gland, that situation categorized under Thyroid cancer. Symptoms include lump appears in the neck area, trouble in breathing due to shrinkage of wind pipe by the tumor, voice changes, pain in the neck. Like other cancer aberration in DNA is the main cause of the cancerous cells.

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)

Hypothalamus which is a part of brain, releases a hormone called Thyrotropin-releasing Hormone (TRH). TRH is responsible for the production of TSH by the help of pituitary gland. Amount of T3 and T4 Hormone in the body controls the production of TSH. Apart from that, TSH production also get affected by inflammation in Thyroid gland, deficiency or excess of Iodine in the body, Thyroid related cancer, medications like chemotherapy, cholesterol regulating drugs, steroids and mood altering drugs.

Hyperthyroidism (Overactive Thyroid)

The condition when production of Thyroid hormone (T3 & T4) gets increased despite of body’s demand. Symptoms include lack of sleep, weakness, weight loss, irregular heart rate. Extreme Hyperthyroidism leads to Grave’s disease.

Related Journals of Hyperthyroidism

Thyroid Research, Journal of Endocrinological Investigation, Endocrine, Clinical Thyroidology, European Thyroid Journal, Thyroid Research and Practice, Thyroid Science, Thyroid Disease and Diabetes, Endocrine Practice, Clinical Endocrinology, European Journal Endocrinology, Journal of Endocrinology and Thyroid Research

Hypothyroidism (Underactive Thyroid)

When Thyroid gland fails to produce require amount of hormone for the body. Symptoms include increased cholesterol level, hair loss, memory loss, constipation, skin problems. Generally its medication runs life long and blood tests are used to confirm the abnormality.

Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis

It is an autoimmune disease where body’s immunity itself destroys our Thyroid gland and in turn Hypothyrodism situation arrives due to no production of Thyroid hormone in the body. This abnormality can be due to Genetic disorder, hormonal imbalance, excessive iodine, Radiation exposure etc. Hashimoto’s Thyroditis is also known as Chronic Lymphocytic Thyroditis due to prolong inflammation in Thyroid gland.

Grave’s Disease

Like Hashimoto disease, Grave’s disease is also an autoimmune disease in which Thyroid gland produces much more hormone than required by the body. In this disease, Thyroid gland grows from its normal size and results in more hormones to be produced. This is due to some antibodies created by immune system which are called as Thyroid stimulating Immunoglobulin’s (TSI’s).

Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulin’s (TSI’s)

Antibodies created by immune system enhance Thyroid gland which is called as Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulin’s. Antibodies bind with Thyroid cell receptors where Thyroid Stimulating hormone use to bind, but these antibodies shows competitive inhibitor to TSH and bind with that receptor to signal excessive Thyroid growth and hormone production.

Grave’s Orbitopathy

As the name suggests Grave’s disease when become sight affecting ocular disease. This disease is also called as Thyroid associated Opthalmology or Thyroid eye disease. In this disease Orbital and periorbital tissues get affected and then eyes. Its symptoms include chemosis, altered ocular motility, periorbital edema, eyelid retraction.

Thyroid Dysfunction

Thyroid Dysfunction is the condition where Thyroid gland is not producing respective hormones properly due to many reasons includes tumor, hyperthyroidism, and hypothyroidism.

Thyroid Carcinoma

It is a palpable, painless, solitary Thyroid nodule. Carcinoma can be broadly classified into papillary carcinoma, follicular carcinoma, medullary carcinoma, primary Thyroid Lymphoma, anaplastic carcinoma, primary Thyroid sarcoma and Thyroid malignancies.

Thyronamines

Thyronamines (TAMs) are a recently distinguished class of endogenous flagging mixes. Their structure is indistinguishable to that of thyroid hormone and deiodinated thyroid hormone subsidiaries, aside from those TAMs don't have a carboxylate gathering. In spite of some underlying productions going back to the 1950s, TAMs did not form into an autonomous region of research until 2004, when they were rediscovered as potential ligands to a class of G protein-coupled receptors called follow amine related receptors.

The Thyrotoxicosis

Thyrotoxicosis is the condition when there is too much Thyroid hormone present in the body and it creates toxicity. If Neoplasms becomes Thyrotoxicosis then it will result into toxic autonomously functioning nodules and toxic multinodular Goiter (TMNG’s).

Thyroid Nodule

These are the lump found in normal thyroid gland, however if these nodules shows any symptoms that will be due to the abnormal size of the nodule or can be due to the abnormal location in Thyroid gland. Thyroid nodules can be seen through routine check by physician and also in X-ray studies.

Translational Thyroidology

Translational Thyroidology is the study of distinguishing new prognostic biomarkers and approve therapeutics for treating metastatic/recalcitrant thyroid malignancies. Moreover, to recognize master metastatic/angiogenic with metabolic pathways in the microenvironment of BRAFV600E-positive. Lymphatic and blood vessels which are involved in the thyroid cancer can be determined, by tracing the epigenetic markers. Translational Thyroidology opens door for advance research in Thyroid.
