Research Interest

I have a great interest in post transcriptional regulation of inflammatory gene expression in monocytes and macrophages. Our group has discovered a translational silencing mechanism in myeloid cell that has potential to function as an endogenous inflammation resolving mechanism. A ribosomal protein is central to this mechanism which appears to control levels of several chemokines and chemokine receptors in response to interferon treatment. We showed that disruption of this mechanism in macrophage results in greater diet induced atherosclerosis in apoE KO mice. We have been studying targets of this control mechanism.
