Dr. Babak Tousi is director of Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health at Lakewood Hospital and Director of Clinical trials at Center for Brain Health at Cleveland. His professional zeal was shaped by his Cleveland Clinic training, which included fellowship in Geriatric Medicine, followed by a second fellowship in Movement disorders through the department of Neurology. Upon graduation, Dr. Tousi accepted a position at Cleveland Clinic, providing consulting care at regional hospitals and later serving as medical director for two elderly care networks, for which he earned the Distinguished Medical Director Award. Dr. Tousi is most proud of his involvement in the Center for brain Health at Lakewood (Senior Care Program), a multidisciplinary clinic focused on neurodegenerative disease in the elderly such as dementia. There, he developed a passion for helping patients and their families maintain quality of life despite dealing with the chronic neurodegenerative conditions and cognitive issues that can accompany aging. He works very closely with the office on Aging and Alzheimer’s Association in meeting the needs of the community. He has been elected as a member of scientific advisory board for Alzheimer’s Association Greater Cleveland chapter. Dr. Tousi’s clinical focus is on dementia with a particular interest in Neuro- Geriatrics, Alzheimer dementia, Lewy-body dementia and Parkinsonism. He is involved in the evaluating patients at the Center for Brain Health and participating in clinical trials for Alzheimer Dementia. He has been principle investigator for many pharmacological and non-pharmacological trials aiming at Alzheimer’s dementia and related disorders and has been consultant for pharmaceutical industry. He is a diplomat of American Board of Internal Medicine in Geriatric Medicine. He has been elected as a fellow of American College of Physician (FACP) in 2010 and also certified medical director (CMD) by American Medical Directors Association. As the associate coarse director of advanced course curriculum and clinical assistant professor, he is engaging medical students in the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, sharing his enthusiasm for the field. He has been elected as treasurer for Medical executive committee of Lakewood hospital. His work has been published in journals such as Annals of Internal Medicine, and Parkinsonism and related disorders. He has been an invited speaker at many national and international meetings. He is also Reviewer board member in journal of Neuroinfectious Diseases
