Biography

My research interests are in the area of identification and characterization of bioactive compounds for the treatment of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. My current research focuses on the use of three-dimensional (3D) cultures of cancer cells for screening of promising anticancer drugs and studying spatial dimension-induced alterations in drug responses. Another aspect of my current research focuses on the potential use of inhibitors of MAP/microtubule affinity-regulating kinases and synthetic derivatives of retinoids for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. To explore our research goal, we use a wide variety of techniques, such as 2D and 3D cell cultures, animal models of disease, high throughput screening, cell transfection, Western blotting, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, mass spectrometry, etc.
