Dr. English is a problem solver with expertise in health informatics and health outcomes research. Dr. English has worked to bring up multiple Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems in 6 clinics and support them. Dr. English worked extensively to create customized dictionaries, system preferences, and workflows to optimize the integration of the system into clinics. Dr. English strives to customize systems that will improve clinical care and efficiency while also generating data that can be used for research and quality improvement projects.Dr. English actively works to enable studies that utilize outpatient data. In addition Dr. English works for Medical Management at UMass Memorial Health Care (UMMHC). Dr. English provides his experience and knowledge of medical records to help provide performance measures, improvement tools and quality improvement consultation to the physicians in the Managed Care Network to support excellence in patient care. Dr. English strives to produce actionable data for the improvement of quality of care, inclusive though not exhaustive of performance feedback, peer group & benchmark comparators, clinical tools & guidelines, and data analyses that support clinical quality improvement. Dr. English develops solutions that will enhance quality by focusing on reengineering workflows and meeting needs in a forward thinking healthcare system.
