Dr. Giovanni Bubici is currently a researcher at the Institute for Sustainable Plant Protection of Bari, which is part of the Research National Council (CNR). He got PhD in plant pathology in 2006. His research activity has been focused on chemical and biological control with streptomycetes of Verticillium dahliae and Pyrenocaheta lycopersici, and on the identification of genetic resistance sources against Verticillium dahliae in olive, eggplant, artichoke and strawberry, and Leveillula taurica in eggplant. Recently, he has started working with viral diseases of horticultural crops, and studying plant-virus interactions using approaches of functional genomics, with emphasis on the host resistance. He has gained a good competence on statistics applied to biological systems.
